About the Convention

Keswick Summer Convention is a Christian Event and part of the Keswick Movement. It is for Christians of all denominations, and for people who are interested in knowing more about Jesus.

Camp starts with dinner (5.30pm) on Wendesday 27th December 2017, and finishes after breakfast and clean up on Tuesday 2nd January 2018. The registration office is the first building on the right of the driveway.
Check in is anytime from 2pm on 27 December (If you intend to arrive after dinner, please notify the registrar with an ETA – Email is the best means before 27 December, otherwise please phone or text 0211397781
On arrival please collect your name tags and pay any outstanding fees at the registration office. Check in is also when you find out what accommodation you have been assigned, You can obtain a room key by paying a $20 bond, however, this is not an option for rooms in the Villa, as the doors are not fitted with locks.
We strongly recommend that you use a key if one is available. If your room does not have a key, or you are in a tent, please do not leave valuables lying around). If you would like to receive a New Zealand Herald each morning this can be ordered and paid for at

If you would like to receive a New Zealand Herald each morning this can be ordered and paid for at check-in. Newspapers will be named and left in the dining room (normally by 7.30am) for collection.

If you are bringing a tent or caravan you are welcome to choose your own site from those that are available – however you will still need to complete the check in process. It is an OSH requirement that we know who is on site, and where all campers are located.

At the conclusion of camp we would appreciate you dropping in to the registration office. This is the time  to hand in name tag holders and feedback forms, return room keys and get a refund of any bond paid. Please report any damage such as soiled mattresses. Summer Campers are liable for the cost where mattress replacement is necessary.

Teens under 19 must be accompanied by an Adult or responsible caregiver.

What’s On

Apart from the daily program, there are some fun activities lined up like raft race, barn dance, fireworks, new years eve party and much more. But we also know that our campers are looking to relax, so there is also plenty of free time to see the sights of Rotorua, go swimming in the many hot pools and lakes, or simply kick back and relax.

What to bring

  • Bedding per person VERY IMPORTANT.
  • If you are in Keswick accommodation you will be supplied with a bottom fitted sheet, a pillow + pillowcase per bed – YOU need to bring a top sheet and either a sleeping bag OR duvet/blankets for each person in your group.
  • Medication, toiletries, Bible, pen & paper, if you intend to wash clothes at camp $1 coins for coin operated washing machines and driers, washing powder and pegs.
  • If you have special food requirements we recommend you bring those items with you (such as gluten free bread, soy milk, tofu etc). There is a fridge for common use in the Kitchenette, and fridges for use by the people assigned to the Lodge and Villa. Please package and clearly name any food you leave in fridges.
  • Boats, bikes, games, kayaks and other stuff for enjoying the beautiful Rotorua lakes enviroment God has created for us!

What NOT to bring

Alcohol, cigarettes etc – Sorry. Keswick is a drug and alcohol free zone. Pets cannot be brought to camp.

How Summer Camp runs

Apart from kitchen staff and a groundsman, Summer Camp runs on a volunteer basis. This means that anything other than cooking and maintenance – dishes, vegetable preparation, table laying and clearing, serving food, bathroom cleaning etc – need to be done by Summer Campers. At the start of camp there will be an opportunity to sign up for a few duties.

How to get to Keswick:

From Rotorua township head to the airport. This is on Te Ngae Road (State Highway 30, in the direction of Whakatane). Before you get to the airport there is McDonalds on the left (corner of Robinson Avenue). Turn into Robinson Avenue. Cooper Avenue is the second road on the right.

Come Enjoy Our Christian Event In Rotorua.
